Oneita J. Coon

She was born July 30, 1934 in Urbana, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clair and Edna (Messenger) Beardsley.

Oneita was raised and educated in Sherman, NY and Spring Creek, PA. She then married and stayed home to raise and care for her family. Oneita later became a Registered Nurse and operated a private Nursing Home. She then became a cook/ manager of the Lunch Box in Warren, PA. After retiring, she volunteered for GECAC in Corry as a grandparent.

She enjoyed sewing, crafting, going to yard sales, cooking, baking and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle LeRoy Lyon Sr; second husband, David Coon; two sisters, Gladys King and Ann Freeman; two brothers, Delbert and Fred Beardsley; grandson, Michael Scott Smith; son-in-law, Scott Smith and great-granddaughter, Luna Rose Smith.

Oneita is survived by three daughters, Roxanne Smith of Waterford, PA, Tammy Lindstrom and her husband Roger of Union City, PA, Barbara Bobelak and her husband Robert of Port Orange, FL; two sons, Bryan Beardsley and his wife Rhonda of Charlotte, NC and Merle Lyon Jr. and his wife Penny of Pittsfield, PA; two sisters, Marge Maleski of French Creek, NY and Sylvia Proctor of Jamestown, NY and four brothers, Clair Beardsley and his wife Marion of Warren, PA, Edward Beardsley and his wife Karen of Lander, PA and Elwood Beardsley of Corry, PA and Ashley Beardsley of Spring Creek, PA.

She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
