Donald Roger Stanbro

Donald Roger Stanbro, 85, of Pittsfield, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, April 12, 2024 at LECOM Corry Memorial Hospital.

He was born, at home, in Lottsville, PA on January 8, 1939, a son to the late John Stanbro and Arlene (Roger) Stanbro Ross. While Donald was working as a mechanic for McCray’s Auto he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he became an Army Ranger. After serving, he worked at Ajax for a period of time before he worked and retired after 38 years at Corry-Jamestown.

Donald was a member of the Wrightsville Community Church, the Wrightsville VFD and the Corry-Jamestown Labor Club. He enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling through the woods and attending his grandchildren’s functions. Most of all, Donald loved gathering with his family and visiting.

He is survived by his children, Michael Stanbro of Corry, Gerald “Dutch” Mathers of Pittsfield, Debra (Robert) Dorman of Columbus, Susan (Richard) Hopkins of Jamestown, NY and Gregory (Amy) Stanbro of Pittsfield; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Marian L. Stanbro, his sons, John Mathers Jr., Mark, James, Patrick and Donald Stanbro and his siblings, Charlotte Brown, John, Sherman and Richard Stanbro and Clyde Ross.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371, from 4-7pm and also on Wednesday, April 17th from 10-11am at which time a funeral service will be held there with the Rev. Larry Little. A private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Pittsfield.
