Arlene Williams

Arlene (York) Williams, 93 of Sugar Grove, passed peacefully, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at home surrounded by many of her loved ones. She was the daughter of Ethel and Earl York, and she married the late Morton Williams on July 2, 1949.

Born on May 30, 1930, Arlene was the ninth of 10 children. She worked at the Warren State Hospital for many years and at Loranger’s Plastics and New Process. Arlene also worked at Eisenhower High School as a teacher’s aide for several years.

Known to many as Monga, or Gram, she was strong, independent, and the most selfless woman. She was involved as a member of Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary where she was highly active working at many of the various events. Arlene was very well known in her community and had many friends, in which she called family. She touched so many lives in so many ways and she will be fondly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Owen (Julie) Williams of Warren and Sue Johnson of Sugar Grove; Daughters-in law, Debbie (Leo) Moses of Pittsfield and Annette Williams of Clymer. Preceding her in death were her sons, Dennis Williams, Andre Williams and John Williams. Also preceding her were her siblings, Walter York, Ralph York, Philip (Hap) York, William (Bill) York, Bobbie York, Vivian Reed, May Irwin, Florence Lawson and Mary Knerr.

She was very blessed by a large family. She is survived by grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Entwisle, Brady (Erin) Williams, Tyler (Kallie) Williams, Heather (Tommy) Raleigh, Megan (Tim) Williams, Tara Williams, Denny Williams, Jeremy (Michelle) Williams, Toby (Courtney) Williams, Cody Williams, Niki (Phil) Chapman-Heubach, Renee (Matt) Lang, Sarah (Alex) Drollinger, and Jesse (Ann) Williams; 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and special friends Ryan Chapman, Brian Stino, and Tom and Denise Braley.

Per her request, no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm. Also, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
