Melissa “Missy” Ellen Lindstrom
Melissa “Missy” Ellen Lindstrom, 52, of Pittsfield, PA, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Corry Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 30, 1971 in Corry, PA. She attended Corry area Schools and took Cosmetology at Vo-Tech. She primarily used her Beautician’s license on her family and eventually started working at Rite Aid. Missy then took time to raise and care for her children. She was made to be a mother and oh, how she loved her family. She loved living the farm life in the country. Her perfect day ended with her family, a bonfire and a glass of wine. Missy was a superb cook and loved providing for her family and cooking over the bonfire.
Once her five children were old enough, she returned to work. Working for Sears, the bank and then eventually the post office in Pittsfield. She loved her job, coworkers and customers. She worked there for over 10 years until she could not.
Missy was the biggest Mickey Mouse fan and had a vast collection and she also enjoyed collecting rocks and gnomes. She enjoyed hunting, cooking, fishing, road trips, four-wheeling, reading, playing board games, Yahtzee and the Walking Dead. She loved traveling out west with her family and seeing Yellowstone National Park and Walnut Grove. She was an avid and successful hunter. One of her fondest memories was harvesting a Bull Elk in Craig, Colorado in November of 2022.
Her motto was “Happy thoughts” and her happy place was her cabin in the woods, built by her family out of love for her. It is and always will be called “Missy’s Cabin”. People and animals alike were drawn to her motherly spirit. She was always positive, which is why she was such a fighter and survivor.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gifford and Ida Sanden and beloved neighbors, Harold and Mabel Skinner.
Missy is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” E. Lindstrom, whom she married on September 9, 1995 in Pittsfield, PA; mother, Winnie McGuire and her husband Erwin “Red”; four daughters, Rebecca (Raymond) Hagg, Kellie (Taylor) Liston, Kimberly (Jacob) Sandt and Sheri Lindstrom and her companion Mikhyle Fehlman; son, Joseph John Lindstrom and his companion Madison Vanguilder; parents-in-law, Linda and John Lindstrom; aunt and uncle, Lillian and Butch Glass.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Emma, Samuel, Camden, Ameila and Oliver and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
