Donald C. Stec

Donald C. Stec, 69, of Pittsfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 at his home in Port Richey, FL.

Don was born on June 18, 1954 in Warren to the late Henry and Margaret (Baker) Stec. Don was a 1972 Youngsville High School graduate and was retired form the United Refinery Co. where he had worked as a computer programmer. Don was a member of The Over the Hill Golf League, the Youngsville Legion, The Warren Moose Lodge and was a key member of the Polish Drinking Team. He was also the host and multi-time champion of the prestigious annual Mailbox Open pool tournament. His favorite saying was “It’s not hot, it’s just got good flavor.”

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shelley Lauffenburger Stec, whom he married on Feb. 23, 1974; his three sons, Chad (Deanna) Stec of Tampa, Brett (Lauren) Stec of Riverview, FL, and Kevin Stec of Pittsfield; his siblings, Stephen Stec of Pittsfield, Cindy (Tim) Shields and Christine Castano, both of Russell, Tim Stec of Grand Valley, Marlene (Tim) Byler of Youngsville; his grandchildren, Connor, Carson and Landon, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday Jan. 27 from 11am till 1pm at Youngsville Free Methodist church, at which time a service will be held with the retired Rev. Cathy Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Cemetery. Following the burial, light hors d’oeuvres will be served at the Youngsville American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests memorial donations in Don’s name be made to the American Heart Association.
