Eudora (Dora) Marian (Guichard) Bower, age 94, of Youngsville, PA, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2023 at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA. She was born April 3, 1929 in Titusville, PA, the daughter of Alfred and Theresa (Yashinski) Guichard.
Dora was a 1947 graduate of Titusville High School. Upon graduation, she worked at Robinson’s Wallpaper Store as the Assistant to the Treasurer, and continued to work there until her marriage to William (Bill) G. Bower on June 10, 1950. As Bill was in the Air Force, they lived at several bases, in fact their first daughter was born at Westover AFB in Chicopee, MA.
Along with her husband, Dora was the owner and operator of the House of Printing for over 20 years. She was instrumental in starting and naming their magazine, “STEPPIN’ OUT,” which is still being published.
Dora was also a Warren County employee for the Office of the District Justices, serving Francis Rhodes and J.C.Lobdell, retiring in 1989.
Growing up, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville, and in later years, the First United Methodist Church of Youngsville, where she sang in the choir and was a former Trustee.
After retirement, Dora and Bill enjoyed traveling the United States, England, Normandy, Scotland, Wales, and also many tropical vacations.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are three daughters, Billie Jean (John) Hubert of Ashville, NY, Patti (Mike) Chase of Garland, PA, and Becky (Warren) Lundmark of North Fort Myers, FL; seven grandchildren, Gabriel (Melissa) Davis, Andrew (Maja) Davis, Alex (Maeghen) Davis, Mandy (Brandon) Kellogg, Cassidy (Amy) Chase, David (Julie) Chase, Jessica (Robert) Bowman; fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband on April 13, 2007, and also a sister, Jean (Guichard) Olmes.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27 at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church at 12 PM. Associate Pastor Eric Brown will officiate. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
