Craig Albert Owens, 74, of Yucaipa, CA, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Redlands.
Craig was born September 4, 1949 in Warren, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Gail M. and Lillian (McDonald) Owens. He was a 1967 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was drafted and served in the Vietnam War and was awarded The Purple Heart. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After living in Tucson Arizona for a few years, he moved back to Warren and was employed at the United Refining Company as an accountant before he moved to California, working a rural route for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. He was well known to his patrons and fellow workers and made many friends.
Craig was an avid golfer and golf “watcher”. He had the pleasure of playing golf at many famous courses, including Old Course at St. Andrews and Pinehurst in North Carolina. He kept track of how professionals were playing and their respective strengths and weaknesses.
Growing up in the Warren area instilled in him a love for the outdoors. He liked to grow fruits and vegetables and always had a garden. He was a good fisherman, whether it be in the ocean or in the rivers or creeks around the area. He loved to travel and has been to numerous countries. He enjoyed the food, culture and people of all the places he visited.
He is survived by his loving partner Ramona Lara, his son Broderick Owens, his daughter Renee Owens, his siblings Pamela Kelley and her husband Michael, Mark Owens, Susan Wightman and her husband Henry and many nieces and nephews.
Above all, Craig was kind, generous and honest. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
