Paul J. Trauffer

Paul J. Trauffer

On July 24, 2023, Paul met the Lord due to an ongoing medical condition. He was born on Feb. 11, 1940, to the late Alberta and John Trauffer. He is survived by his brother Retired Rev. David (Ruth) Trauffer, Scott Depot, WV. His significant other of 18 years, Diane Sumrow, Warren, PA. Two daughters Amy (Kevin) Knopf, Phoenix, AZ, and Bonnie (Donald) Hoover, Scottsdale, AZ. One granddaughter Victoria (J’ynall) Lozada and one great-granddaughter Juliet Lozada, Friendship, NY, One niece, Beth (Kenny) Wantz, Chesapeake, VA and one nephew, John (Bonnie) Trauffer, Seven Falls, PA.

Paul attended Warren Area High School and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S Army where he was stationed in Germany. He was a decorated Sharpshooter and was Honorably discharged in 1968. He worked tirelessly at Struther’s Wells Corp. to provide a good home for his family and retired from there. He had an unparalleled work ethic, along with the love of the Lord that he instilled in his family.

He was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene in Warren, PA then later attended Praise Fellowship Church in Russell, PA. Throughout his life he loved singing and praising God through songs of worship, much to the chagrin of his daughters who pointed out he was “Off key and loud.” In his jovial voice he would state “Scripture says make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” Paul had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He’d tell you the same story, even if you heard it a dozen times, just to make you laugh and “Get a rise out of you” As he would say. When you’d tease or joke back his response was “Nuts on ya” With a big smile!

Paul was an easy-going, friendly man who was never shy around strangers. He would always help when needed and witness the love of Jesus when there as opportunity. He will be remembered for his kindness, joyfulness, and “booming” laughter, but more importantly, his unwavering heart for the Lord.

His quirks, that sometimes had us shaking our heads and rolling our eyes will be remembered and missed by his family, and by those who knew him best.

We know with assurance that he is forever singing and “Making a joyful noise unto the Lord” only now in tune.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Thurs Oct. 5, 2023, from 6 pm-8 pm at Praise Fellowship Worship Center located at 7451 Market St., Russell, PA 16345.
