STEDMAN- Norman Lewis Ecker Jr., 76, of Stedman and formerly of Panama, passed away at his home with family present on September 16, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 29, 1947, in Harmony, NY the son of the late Norman Ecker Sr. and Beulah “Boots” Jarrell.

Norm had attended Sherman Central School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army having fought in the Vietnam War. After his service time, he worked for many years as a self-employed logger, carpenter, and truck driver.

He had belonged to the State Line Draft Horse Club, the Lakewood Legion Post 1286, the NYS Horse Pulling Club and the unofficial “Round Table Club” with friends at local diners.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 28 year, Linda Peiffer Ecker, whom he married August 26, 1995, three sons: Lonny Ecker of Lakewood, NY, Lucas Ecker of Ashville, NY and Lewis Ecker of Ashville, NY, two step sons: Todd Seiberg of Stedman, NY and Jason (Vicki) Seiberg of Stedman, NY, eight grandchildren: Nick, Colin, Kayden, Eva, Matthew, Jackson “Buster”, Ameilia, and Lander, and one great-grandson, Carter, two sisters: Denise Ecker of Sugar Grove, PA, and Sue (Rich) Sandstrom of North Carolina, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Hedlund, and three brothers: Wayne, Allen “Bud”, and Jimmy Ecker.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Barn, 3670 Panama Stedman Rd, Mayville, NY. A brief service led by Hospice Chaplain Carmen Perry will be held at 2 PM where military honors will also be given by the Lake Chautauqua VFV Post 8647.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care (20 W. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750) or to a veterans organization of choice.
