Mary Jones Kirsch

Mary Jones Kirsch

Mary Jones Kirsch, beloved wife, mother, and friend, ended her battle with myositis on July 26, 2023, at the age of 73.

Born on May 13, 1950, in Washington, D.C. Mary was the daughter of the late Dr. Norman Jones and Clara H. Jones. She grew up in a close-knit family and developed a strong nurturing and caring personality from a young age. She graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1968, where she enjoyed journalism and basketball.

After high school, Mary pursued her dream of becoming a nurse receiving her B.S. from the University of Delaware. She worked as a RN at Hahnemann and Presbyterian hospitals in Philadelphia, Pa. and Warren General Hospital in Warren, Pa. She was a skilled and dedicated ER and OR nurse who was well loved by coworkers and patients alike.

Outside of work Mary enjoyed calligraphy. She was always happy to perform this self-taught talent for family and friends. Mary also enjoyed traveling and crosswords, but above all she cherished spending time with family and friends. She was always open to any new thrilling adventure and experience.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of 36 years, Keith, and a proud and loving mother to their daughter, Katie, who brought her immeasurable joy and laughter. She was the anchor of the Jones clan, taking care of both her elderly parents, dispensing medical advice, always showering everyone with gifts (especially the children), and bringing together all her siblings and their families.

Mary is survived by her husband, Keith R. Kirsch of Warren, Pa., her daughter Katie (Rob) Skodis of Jamestown, N.C., and her siblings: Paula (Pete) Hibbert of Bear, Del., Barbara (Jim) Karsnitz of Salisbury, Md., Bernie (Emi) Jones of West Palm Beach, Fla., Stephen (Marie) Jones of St. Pete’s Beach, Fla. and many loved and cherished nieces, nephews and her dog, Scamp.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Dr. Norman and Clara Jones, brother-in-law Chip Kirsch and her dog Pal.

Mary’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of kindness, her infectious sense of humor, her highly intelligent and curious mind will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Celebrations of life will take place at a later date in Warren, Pa., and Dover, Del.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Myositis Association at 6950 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 370, Columbia, MD 21046 or online at myositis.org/donate.
