Freda L. Moats

She was born in Parsons, WV on May 11, 1936 a daughter of the late William and Mabel Howard Blair.

Freda was raised and educated in Parsons, WV and graduated from Parsons High School in 1954. She then moved to Akron, OH where she baby sat for family members. While in Akron, she attended and graduated from nursing school. She was a Registered Nurse for a local hospital in Akron until she married and returned to Parsons to raise and care for her family. In the mid 1960s she and her family moved to Corry. As her children grew, Freda worked for several businesses in the Corry area, including: Erie Co. Plastics, Foamex, Ethen Allen, Corry Contract and most recently for the Corry Auto Auction.

She was a member of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, baking and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband George Moats, whom she married on Aug. 11, 1956 in Angola, IN, also by her sister Evelyn Racey.

Freda is survived by her daughter Wanda Caylor (Leonard) of Spring Creek, PA, two sons, William Moats (Ann) and David Moats (Annette) all of Corry. By a sister Pauline Knotts of Davis, WV and her adopted kids Bob Fuller (Jen) of Spring Creek. Also by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St, Corry on Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm. A Grave side service will be held at Pifer Cemetery, St. George, WV on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Corry Unit, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
