Rebecca “Becky” McMillen passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 2, 2023, in Sheffield PA after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Becky was born May 29, 1942, to the late Harold Reed and Mary Jane Weaver.

Becky graduated from Warren High School in 1960 and proudly graduated from WCA School of Nursing in Jamestown NY in 1963 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Warren General Hospital for almost 40 years. She loved her job and cherished so many friendships with coworkers. She also worked as the nurse for the Ruth M. Smith Center, Plant Nurse at GTE Sylvania.

Becky dedicated her life to medicine and at heart, she had an insatiable will to heal. Anyone could reach out to her with any ailment, she was “on-call” any time of day or night.

Strong in faith, Becky was a long-time member of Epworth Methodist Church and the Sheffield United Methodist Church in Sheffield.

Becky lived an adventurous life and enjoyed traveling with her husband, and with close friends and family. In addition to driving anywhere across the United States, she enjoyed trips to Europe with her sister-in-law, Sherry McMillen. She loved to dance and once she was on that dance floor, she would be there until the end of the party. Becky lived for spending time with her grandchildren and hosting pajama parties and midnight swims with them. She always had her nose in a good book, curled up next to her fur babies, but would happily put it down in a heartbeat for conversation and food with friends and family. She loved to make baked goods and to cook delicious meals and host family holiday dinners.

Becky married the love of her life, James McMillen August 15,1985 at the United Methodist Church in Sheffield PA. who survives; Sons; James (Tammy) Swanson, Pittsburgh PA, Michael Swanson of Warren PA; Stepchildren Christian (Michelle) McMillen, Paulette (Marty) Grove of Sheffield PA, and Kevin (Launa) McMillen, Virginia Beach VA; Grandchildren; Rebecca (Adam) Kostka, Reed Swanson, both of Pittsburgh PA, Nicholas Swanson, Warren PA, Step grandchildren; Christian McMillen, Warren PA, Jacob (Kesha) Grove, Sheffield PA, Emily (Josh) Griffith, Euless TX, Reagan McMillen and Peyton McMillen, Virginia Beach, VA: Great granddaughter; Anneliese Grove, Sheffield PA; sister, Rosemary (Gail) Flatt, Warren PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Swanson on August 6. 2020.

Visitation for Becky will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sheffield United Methodist Church in Sheffield, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Douglas Brink, Church Pastor, presiding. Burial will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Borden Funeral Home in Sheffield.
