Jacob “Jake” Vincent Porter
Jacob “Jake” Vincent Porter
Jacob “Jake” Vincent Porter, 30, formerly of Warren, PA, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 at his home Dorchester, MA.
He was born May 13, 1992 in Warren, PA, the son of Jonathan Porter of Russell, PA and Dawn and Jason Hagberg of Warren, PA.
Jacob grew up in Warren, but as an adult he lived in Philadelphia, on Martha’s Vineyard, and in Boston. He was a 2010 graduate of The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, and then furthered his education at Jamestown Community College and the Community College of Philadelphia. Following his secondary education, he worked as an independent consultant for Harvard Business School. Jacob was known for his kind heart and caring nature, which made him the perfect fit as a full-time caregiver for the elderly, which he did for several years while living on Martha’s Vineyard – one of his favorite places.
From a young age, Jacob was fascinated and incredibly gifted in his understanding of technology and electronics, which made him the designated technical support person for all his friends and family. Jacob loved traveling, photography, the several Saab automobiles he owned throughout his life, and last but certainly not least – ice cream.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, LeRoy “Hap” and Linda Porter, and his beloved cat, Gato.
In addition to his parents, Jake is survived by his step-father, Jason Hagberg of Warren, PA; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Sally Best of Warren, PA; three sisters, Erin Williams and her husband Brady of Warren, PA, Sarah Tronco and her husband Antonio of Oaklyn, NJ and Emily Hagberg of Warren, PA; two uncles, Ken Porter and his wife Jessica of Lander, PA, and Tom Best and his wife Susan of Warren, PA; and his Aunt Lisa Hagberg of Florence, SC. Jacob is also survived by two nephews, Owen and Carter; two nieces, Olivia and Juliet, as well as many cousins.
His love for adventure and traveling took him to many beautiful destinations, however, the friends he made throughout those travels were the true blessings to him. Jacob was wise beyond his years, and his ability to connect and make friends with others was truly unique; he never met a stranger.
His close family and friends are filled with an unfathomable amount of grief, but not only are they grieving for the many years he should have had left to live – and the many years they now have to live without him – but they are also filled with grief for all those on this earth who still had not been blessed with the chance to meet their friend, Jacob.
Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, PA 16407 on Friday, March 10th from 5 to 8 pm.
Burial will be held privately in Thompson Hill Cemetery, Lander, PA.
