Laura Simonsen, age 88, of Lubbock, TX, passed away on Jan. 24, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Laura was born in Warren, PA, on Aug. 21, 1934, the daughter of Floyd Tidrick and Sophronia Wilcox Tidrick. Laura was a graduate of the Sugar Grove High School class of 1952. Laura was well-traveled, having resided in Warren, PA, Oviedo, FL, Enid, OK, Colorado City, TX, and lastly Lubbock, TX. Laura had resided in Lubbock, TX since 1980, until her passing on Jan. 24, 2023. Laura spent the last fifteen years with her son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Nancy Calhoun.
Laura was the eldest of seven brothers and sisters. Laura was preceded in death by her first husband, Milford Calhoun, her second husband, Raymond Simonsen, her brother Stuart Tidrick, her sister Elizabeth Tidrick, and her parents. Laura is survived by her sisters Venieta (Netie) Tidrick, Santa Clara, CA, Pamela Tidrick (Derek McKown), Warren PA, and her brothers Craig (Ruth) Tidrick, Warren, PA, and Kirk (Kathy) Tidrick, Clarendon, PA. Laura is also survived by her five children,, Reed Calhoun, Lubbock, TX, Candy (John) Williams, Sugar Grove, PA, Michele Bibb, Montrose, CO, Toby (Nancy) Calhoun, Lubbock, TX, and Dawn (John) Etling, Bruceton, TN. She is also survived by her special granddaughter, Jessica Herman, who Laura raised in Lubbock, TX, in addition to several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at the West Haven Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX on Jan. 31, 2023.
