Charles James “Jim” Farrell

Charles James “Jim” Farrell of Wynnewood, PA, passed away on February 20, 2023.

He was 95 years old. He is the beloved husband of Janet B. (nee Beatty) Farrell and the loving father of Tom (Anne), Lisa (Vicki), Chuck (Dee), and Jack (Sally) Farrell. Jim is the dear grandfather of Rebecca (Kenny) Woods; Thomas Farrell; Anna, Mark, and Paul Page; and Jessie,Max, Christine, and Matt Farrell. He is also the great-grandfather of Owen Page, Axel and Astrid Woods, and Edward, Zachary, and Jonathan Farrell.

He was born in Warren on July 17, 1927, toCharles and Mildred (nee Williams) Farrell. His father owned a flooring company, and his mother, Mildred, was a nurse.

Jim was pre-deceased by his younger sister, Bonnie. Jim graduated from Warren Area High School as President of his school class. He entered the service immediately following high school near the end ofWorld War II. Peace had been declared and he was part of the armed forces clean-up efforts to restore stability. He served in the United States Army as aTechnician Fifth Grade in Austria for two years.Upon returning to the States, he attended Princeton University on the GI bill, graduating in 1951. Jim was the first in his family to go to college. His degree was in Russian history. Jim married Janet Beatty, the love of his life, onAugust 8, 1953. They were married for 69 happy years. During the early years of his marriage, he obtained his MBA in Industrial Management at Wharton. Jim’s specialty was Information Services and Data Processing. He designed computer systems for the companies he worked for in the days when computers filled several rooms. Jim had a sense of pride that he was a “missionary” in what was once thefledgling field of information technology.

In lieu of flowers, an offering in Mr. Farrell’ s name to Penn Wynne Presbyterian Church, 130Haverford Road, Wynnewood, PA 19096 would begratefully appreciated.
