Delores May Smith

Delores May Smith was born August 6, 1937. She passed away from natural causes on December 19, 2022. She was the beloved wife to Rodney F. Smith whom she married on March 1, 1958.

Delores was the third child of the late Alfred and Viola (Cordner) Anthony. She grew up outside of Youngsville, PA and was a graduate of the Youngsville High School. She was the much loved mother to her six children, Alan R. Smith of Sugar Grove, PA (Dorie Bennett), Debra S. Oldaker of Clarksville, WV (Larry Oldaker), Brenda A. Smith of Erie, PA (Greg Braine), Beth M. Penland of Stoneboro, PA (Kent Penland), Lynn M. Smith of Garland, PA and Daniel R. Smith of Sugar Grove, PA.

She was the grandmother to Joshua Tucker, Sheena Walker, Seth Tucker, Clista Lambeth, Ryan Oldaker, Anissa Miller, Mason Penland, Mariah Penland, Marisa Penland, Richard Smith, Shyla Smith, Emma Smith and had many great-grandchildren.

Delores was a stay at home mother living most of her life on a small farm outside of Lottsville, PA where she raised her family. She also enjoyed selling Amway, Tupperware, Avon and also was employed with the New Process company in Warren, PA during her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers and was devoted to God. She faithfully attended the Wesleyan Methodist church all of her life.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Dennis and Robert Anthony.

Delores is survived by her husband Rodney and all of her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Janet Shaw (Ted Shaw) of Russell, PA and Diane Bennett (Alden Bennett) of Youngsville, PA and her brother, John Anthony (Diane Anthony) of Youngsville, PA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., Youngsville, PA 16371, from 11am-1pm at which time a funeral service will be held there with the Lay Pastor, Collins Fyock, pastor of the Brown Hill Wesleyan Church, officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove, PA.
