William Young

William D. Young, 73, of Warren, Pa., died peacefully at his home, Monday, Octtrude E. Green Young.

He has resided most of his entire life in Warren. He was a 1968 graduate of Warren High School. Bill had served with the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War from 1969-70, as a corporal. He was employed with the United Refining Company, as an operator, retiring after 39 years employment. He had served as vice president and president of the Union for nine years. He was a coach with the Hot Stove Baseball League for eight years. Bill was a member of the Warren Eagle Aerie, life member of the Marine Corp League, where he started the Toys for Tots campaign and ran that campaign for nine years. He had served as state chairman for POW/MIA in Vietnam. He was a life member Disabled American Veterans.

He was kind of an outlaw hunter.

Bill is survived by two sons: Jason Young of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jeremy Young of Warren, Pa.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister – Linda Wareham of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Jack E. Young and wife, Gloria of Warren, P.; his best friend, Dan Peterson and wife, Peggy of Warren, Pa;, his best little friend, Alex Burton; three grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his thrre sisters: Sandra Knopf, Patricia Cummings and Mary Campbell.

There will be no viewing, he wanted his friends to remember him the last time they saw him. Military honors will be bestowed to Bill, by members of the U.S. Marine Corp., Clarendon, Sheffield V.F.W. Funeral Honor Guard and the Warren American Legion Post 135 Funeral Honor Guard. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, Starbrick, Pa.
