Connie Diane Rose

Connie Diane Rose, 68, formerly of Sheffield, Pa., and Jamestown, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Hanover, Pa.

Born Oct. 28, 1953, she was the loving daughter of the late John Louis Smith, Sr. and Erma Lucille (Hoitink) Smith.

John and Erma Smith lovingly raised her with good morals and Christian values. They instilled in her the importance of going to church and being a part of the Family of God. Connie was a member of both the Bethany and Ross Mills Church of God, where she loved singing and composing as both the senior and junior choir director. She was the head teacher for both Sunday school and summer Bible camp, was the head Church interior decorator, a member of the church council, and was a team member and coach of the church softball team. She was also a part of the Church Missions where she went around the United States and Mexico to help build homes for the poor.

Connie was the loving wife of David F. Rose, was a very caring and devoted mother to her five daughters, and a wonderful loving grandmother to all her 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was always attending all her grandchildren’s events, very happily cheering them on in the crowd.

Surviving are her five daughters: Kelly Hershman of Copley Ohio, Michelle Donaldson of Jamestown N.Y., Heather Baynes of Hanover Pa., Autumn Helms of Jamestown, and Holly Sethuramalingam of St. Louis Mo.; 12 grandchildren: five granddaughters: Ashlynn Kelly (Fisk), Rosemarie Donaldson, Bridgette Donaldson, Brooke Almquist and Bailey Sethu and seven grandsons: Mitchell Abbey, Aditya Sharma, Eric Surena, Ethan Surena, Dammaian Helms, Isaac Helms and Joseph Jr Helms; and two great-grandchildren: Benjamin Kelly and Emma Kelly. Connie was also one of 24 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Franklin Rose who died Aug. 27, 2018; her parents, John and Erma Smith of Kentucky; her mother, Lillian M. Halowell Fullmer (Ferry) of Jamestown N.Y., her father Ralton John, and her biological father, Adam Funk; as well as six siblings.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor David Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. for two hours prior to the service.
