Jock Thomas McCain

He spent half his life in the service of his country. He did four tours in Iraq, one in Kuwait, one in Grenada, and several unnamed operations that have been redacted from his public record. Jock held titles such as Army Ranger, Drill Sergeant, and Airborne Jumpmaster. He retired an E9, Command Sergeant Major, with 30 military honors to include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star (BSS) and Humanitarian Service Medal

After “retirement” Jock signed up once again, as an independent contractor heading a top secret security division for the U.S. government in Bosnia and Kosovo, where he and his unit were directly responsible for the apprehension of several terrorists from the FBI’s most wanted list. He then spent several years training private security teams for abduction and anti-kidnapping certification.

Jock’s impact went beyond his service, he was a wisdom-filled badass, an amazing father, proud grandfather and his wife’s best friend.

Jock was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Birmingham, Ala., to Dunreath and Thomas McCain. He grew up on Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., and has resided in Warren, Pa., for the past seven years, where he died at home from advanced melanoma.

Jock is survived by his wife, Wendy McCain; daughter, Andrea McCain (David); granddaughter; Jayda McCain Rojas; and brothers: Rob McCain (Susie) and Cary McCain (Donna).

A burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
