Edward Allen

Edward A. Allen, 92, of North Warren, Pa., died Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at his residence.

He was born July 27, 1929, son of the late John James and Marie Bertha Nitche Allen Sr. Ed was a lifelong Warren resident.

He was a 1947 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a private.

Ed was employed for 40 years with Penelec, starting out as a lineman, and retiring in 1987 as a supervisor. Ed was a member of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. He was always putting his family first; he was a true family man. Through the years he was active with his children in The Warren Sports Boosters, Music Boosters, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Little League. His greatest joy was being able to help and converse with young people enjoyed helping people anyway he could. Ed loved working in his garden and watching nature.

Ed is survived by his four children: Barbara Premus and husband, Michael of Staten Island, N.Y., Christine Allen of Warren, Pa., Matthew M. Allen and wife, Nancy of Wilton, Maine, and Edward J. Allen and wife, Cindy of Bear Creek, Pa.; nine grandchildren: Tony, Tom, Brian, Kimberly, Samantha, Mathew, Alexandra, Mariah and Arick; one great granddaughter, Harper; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. McClellan Allen, whom he married Sept. 20, 1952, in Tiona, Pa.,, who died March 8, 2012; one son, Kelly David Allen who died March 25, 2009; three brothers: David James Allen, John J. Allen Jr., and Joseph F. Allen; one sister, Mary T. Eggleston; and his faithful companions, his dogs: Jock and Cocoa.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Stephen Schreiber, pastor officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery.
