John J. McGarry
John J. McGarry, 90, of Warren, PA., died Thursday evening, May 19, 2022, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA., after a brief illness. He was born March 3, 1932, in Warren, PA. John was the son of Paul E. and Marie Beam McGarry. He was a lifelong Warren area resident. John graduated in 1950 from Warren High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Penn State University. He was employed as a real estate agent with Howard Hanna Professionals and was currently working at the age of 90. John had previously owned and operated McGarry Photography Studio and was an insurance broker, stockbroker, and real estate broker. He was a communicant of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church and a member of the Warren Knights of Columbus. He was a charter member of the former Exchange Club of Warren, member of the Warren Eagles Aerie, Moose Lodge 109, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and Conewango Club. John was instrumental with the Four Flags Ceremonies held on Memorial Day weekend. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan. John enjoyed playing tennis, skiing and was an avid reader.
John is survived by his daughter, Pamela McGarry, his life companion of 38 years, Nancy Clavin both of Warren, PA.,
Nancy’s daughters, Trish Ewalt & husband, Matt, grandson, Connor, of Jamestown, N.Y., Pat Esterbrook and husband, Craig of Warren, PA.,
1 Sister – Joan Conway of Ashland, VA., several nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Paul McGarry, 8 Sisters – Jacqueline McGarry, Jeanne McGarry, Dorothy A. McGarry, Mary Gettings, Ann Buckwald, Patricia Richards, Sue Camp, Denise Assal.
Family and friends will be received at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 6 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell Street, Warren, PA., with Fr. Stephen Schreiber, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Deacon Joseph Lucia. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
