Ruby S. Stiles Chase, 87, of Cobham Park Road, Warren, Pa., died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 23, 1934, a daughter of the late LeRoy Stiles and Mary Gantz Kocher Stiles.
Ruby was born in Warren and moved to Columbus, Pa., as a young girl. She graduated from Corry Area High School in 1952. After high school, she started a family and primarily raised and took care of her children. She also worked as a waitress in her spare time. Eventually, she started working for the Corry Area School District as a secretary in the business office. She worked her way up to be the assistant business manager and retired in 1996.
She served as treasurer for the Corry City Council for two years and was involved in the Women’s Bowling League.
Ruby was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting and attending craft shows, painting, ceramics, and was a member of the art league in Warren. She loved her various cats and dogs through-out the years and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her family. Ruby was a generous soul to all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Chase, whom she married May 30, 1957; three sisters: Helen Grosskopf, Isabelle Anthony and Patricia Beardsley; and two half-brothers: William and Robert Stiles.
Ruby is survived by a daughter, Toni Kitchel of Warren, Pa.; three sons: Marshal Chase and his wife, Susan of Erie, Pa., Curtis Chase of Warren, Pa., and Rick Chase and his wife, Sue of Cranberry Township, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Melissa (Jessica Smith) Chase, Kelly (Jamie) Chase, Kristen and Ryan Chase, Aaron (Allison) and Kyle Kitchel, Reina McCoy and Blake Hockett.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Phoenix and Willa Chase, Lila, Lainey and Grayson Kitchel, Parker and Annie Howell and Scotlyn Kerstetter-Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday, April 20, from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service there at 1 p.m. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.
