Rexford “John” Putnam

Rexford “John” Putnam, 76, of Sugar Grove, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, in Sun City Center, Fla.

He was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Warren, Pa., the son of Herbert and Bettie Putnam.

John was a 1963 graduate of Eisenhower High School Russell, Pa., where he met the love of his life Barbara Haller Putnam, who he married on March 13, 1965.

John retired from SKF Bearing Company in Jamestown, N.Y., after 40 years.

John was a dedicated 50-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Carroll Lodge 1147, past master and past district deputy grand master of Chautauqua County. He was a member of Zem Zem Temple of Erie, past monarch of Kharram Gotto, past president Warren County Shrine Club, Zem Zem Oriental Band, and the Zem Zem Hornets. He was a member and past patron of Youngsville Eastern Star. He was also a member and past state director of the National Camping Travelers.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, his winters in Florida, camping, and hunting.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by two daughters: Amy Flaisman of Sugar Grove, Pa., and Jennifer (Todd) Rarey, of Warren, Pa.; and a son, Scott (Cheryl) Putnam of Washington, Pa. By his five grandchildren: John “Jordan” Flaisman and Jared Flaisman, both of Sugar Grove, Pa., Sydney Putnam and Spencer Putnam, both of Washington, Pa., and Emma Rarey of Warren, Pa. By his two sisters: Elva “Abby” (Boyd) Benson of Palmyra, Pa., and Susan Chase of Tampa, Fla. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sandra (Andre) Origer; brother-in- law, John (Judy) Haller; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Leland and Evelyn Haller, and his son-in-law, John Flaisman.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date that will be announced.
