Robert “Bob” E. Johnston Jr.

Robert “Bob” E. Johnston Jr., 53, of Sugar Grove, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa.

Bob was born Aug. 11, 1968, in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Robert E. Johnston, Sr., and Carol Ann Schneider Johnston of Phoenix, Ariz.

Bob served as a PFC in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky., as an armor crewman and tanker driver from 1986-88. He was proud of his service and was a true patriot. Bob found the love of his life when he met his soulmate, Brenda. They were married on April 1, 2013, but were together for over 20 amazing years. He had many jobs over the years, but he found his dream job later in life when he became an OTR truck driver. He traveled to all the lower 48 states, taking his wife along for the adventure. He also enjoyed their many rides on his many motorcycles whenever there was a sunny day. His spare time was spent working on the cars and motorcycles with his sons, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandbabies. He was a family man through and through. His kids will cherish the memories of learning to drive while helping him deliver papers on his paper route, his great cooking (especially his chicken and dumplings) and gathering at the house every time he came home from his OTR travels for a steak dinner and a drink of whatever he brought home from the Full Throttle Saloon when he drove through Sturgis, S.D.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremy Finn; and niece, Julie Weaver.

In addition to his wife and mother, Bob is survived by four brothers: James Johnston, William (Bernice Ann) Johnston, Randall Phipps-Johnston, and Richard Marshall; three sisters: Tammy Johnston, Kimberly Bahtti and Lorraine (Jacob) Lopez; four sons: Andrew Johnston, Michael Johnston, Michael (Lexi) Kay and Dylan (Kristen) Kay; three daughters: Andrea (Teresa) Johnston, Amber (Blas) Valenzuela and Krista (Matthew) Moore; six grandchildren: Peyton, Lillien, Jaxon, Raiden Robert (named after his grandpa), Shelby and Blas Jr. and two on the way, Logan and Jeremy; two nieces: Makayla and Maleia; four nephews: Christopher, Travis, Jeremiah and Isaac; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, and the countless “bonus” kids that have come through our house over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m.
