Helen G. Eddy, 73, of Happy Town Rd., Bear Lake, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 at her home.
She was born May 11, 1948, in Bethlehem, Pa., to the late Toby and Dorothy Kammerderer Yoder.
Helen was raised and educated in the Bear Lake area. After school, she started a family and spent most of her time raising and taking care of them. She also helped her husband with the work on the farm. Once her children were old enough she continued helping with the farm work and got a job at Colonial Terrace, now Cambridge Corry, as a nurse’s aide. She left there to work at Erie Plastics and worked there for several years until they closed. Helen then got a job at Blair Corp. and eventually took her retirement to take care of her husband in his final years.
She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Church in Corry and a past member of the Lottsville United Methodist Church. Helen enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques and dolls and tending to her many flower gardens. She loved her many dogs and cats she had over the years and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William B. “Ben” Eddy, whom she married Feb. 26, 1971, in Bear Lake, Pa.
She is survived by two sons: Rob Donnell and his wife, Sheila of Columbus, Pa. and Brian Donnell and his wife Tricia of Sugar Grove, Pa.; two sisters: Betty Sly of Jamestown, N.Y., and Martha Yoder of Corry, Pa.; three brothers: Alvin “Butch” Yoder of Bear Lake, Pa., Jim Yoder and his wife, Cindy of Panama, N.Y., and Mike Yoder and his wife, Connie of Asheville, N.Y.
Also surviving are five grandchildren: Tessa (Brian) Sager, Amanda, Joe, Ben and Faith Donnell; three great-grandchildren: Ryley Murphy, Aubrey and Charlie Sager; a niece, Becky Wade, who took special Care of Helen in her final days; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and a significant other, David Stutzman of Bear Lake, Pa.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and attend the funeral service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lynn Cirigliano will officiate.
A private burial will take place in Bear Lake Cemetery, Bear Lake, Pa.
