Amy M. Collins Gladney

Amy M. Collins Gladney

Amy M. Gladney passed away unexpectedly at her home in Tullytown Borough on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at the age of 71.

Amy was born in Jamestown, N.Y., and raised in Sugar Grove, Pa. She is the daughter of Luella Rose (Williams) Collins and the late Elmer Eugene Collins.

Amy moved to the Philadelphia area in 1969, in search of adventure and new beginnings. There she met many lifelong friends and her husband, Jim, the love of her life.

Amy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was supportive, loving, and full of fun and sparkle. Always ready to tease others and laugh at herself. Her spirit was always high, and she always looked for the good in everything and everyone. She always provided an ear to listen and sage advice when asked. She was a loyal friend to anyone she met and strived to put a smile on everyone’s face. Glass half empty does not describe Amy. If you handed her a glass of mud, she would, with a smile on her face, say, “look at how full it is, at least it’s not an empty glass of mud.”

Amy loved to travel and experience new places. She enjoyed cruises in the Caribbean, cross country trips to see the National Parks and summer vacations with friends and family. She made it a point to visit friends and family no matter where they lived or how far away.

She worked as an administrative assistant and a nurse’s aide, where she found her true calling to help people at their time of need. Amy enrolled in the nursing program at Bucks County Community College and received her degree 1994. She began her career as a registered nurse at Holy Redeemer Hospital and retired from VITAS Innovative Hospice, where she was a team manager.

She was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Fairless Hills, where she participated in many activities including the choir, bells, and the youth group.

Amy is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, James; and their three children: Darren Gladney of Erie, Alicia Koegler and husband ,John of Warminster, and Susan Arnone and husband, Josh of Abbot, Maine; and her cherished grandchildren: Ian and Michael Gladney and John and Luella Koegler. She will be sadly missed by her mother, Lu-ella; her brothers: Elmer “Rocky” Collins and wife, Marsha, Gary Collins and Jim Collins; and her sister, Susan Luther and husband, Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister, Kaye Onuffer.

A funeral service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 140 Trenton Road, Fairless Hills, Pa. at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. It will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Marianne Morgan. The family will greet friends after the service in Fellowship Hall. Interment will be private.
