Earl E. “Spike” Huber

Earl E. “Spike” Huber, 74, of Warren, Pa., passed away Oct. 24, 2021, at Kinzua Healthcare following a lengthy illness.

Spike was born Jan. 14, 1947, the son of the late Theodore and Clara VanEvery Huber in Youngsville, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Larry Huber and Theodore Huber his wife, Carol; sisters: Barbara Johnson and her husband, George, and Joan Byer; and in infant son, Douglas Anthony Huber.

Spike attended Warren Area High School and graduated in 1964. In 1971, he purchased his father’s asphalt paving company, Huber Blacktop Company, and continued as owneroperator of the business for 44 years. In 2015, he then sold the company to his son, Daryl upon his retirement. Spike was a member or the Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of Directors at the Warren County YMCA for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Morrison Huber, whom he married May 6, 1967, in Warren, Pa at St. Joseph Church in Warren; two sons: Denny Huber, his wife, Lalena, and Daryl Huber, his fiance, Jenna Blum and his daughter, Chris Cummings, all of whom reside in Warren; four grandsons: Bryce, Austyn and Connor Cummings and Dawson Huber; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Rosie who at the dismay of his wife, loved to sit right next to him whenever he was eating and “accidentally” receive table scraps.

Spike was known not only as a respected local business owner who liked to give back to his community, but also for his humor and ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. When company visited his home, Spike and his prankster tendencies thoroughly enjoyed filling visitor’s shoes with dog food and lubricating the exterior of car door handles. He enjoyed making people laugh. Spike also enjoyed going on vacation with his wife to Las Vegas and taking his family and grandkids to St. Pete Beach, Fla., every year over Thanksgiving. He enjoyed boating at the Kinzua Dam and hunting with his son, Daryl and his daughter. He and his wife loved to go to Stateline Speedway with his sons and grandchildren. Spike would always take time from work to attend every baseball game, softball game, volleyball match, or swim meet of his children and his grandchildren over the years. He and his wife also loved to take trips with his grandsons to amusement parks and weekend getaways to Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at St Joseph Church with the Rev. Richard C. Tomasone officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Salvation Army or Hospice of Warren County.
