James Atkins
James F. Atkins, 75, of
Clarendon, Pa.,. died Satur-
day, July 24, 2021. James
was born Jan. 5, 1946, in
Buffalo, N.Y. He was the
son of Raymond Keith and
Erna D. Atkins.
James was a longtime
Warren area resident. James
graduated with honors from
Jamestown Community
College in arts, on May 20,
1978, and he earned a
bachelor’s degree in politi-
cal science from New York
State University Fredonia
campus. He had served
with the U.S. Navy during
the Vietnam War, serving
from June 10, 1968, to
April 1, 1972, as an avia-
tion warfare systems opera-
tor. He earned a National
Defense Service Medal,
Meritorious Unit Commen-
dation. He was owner and
operator of Atkins Con-
crete, for several years, re-
tiring on May 1, 2001.
James had served on the
board of directors of human
society, was a member of
Dunkirk yacht club.
James is survived by his
sister-in-law, Diana Bailey
of Warren, Pa..; niece, Di-
ane Stromdahl; and four
nephews: Dwayne Bailey,
William Bailey, Arthur
Bailey and Corey Bailey.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death
by his wife of 52 years, Ar-
dith McCool Atkins, whom
he married Aug. 12, 1968,
and who died Dec. 21,
2020; one stepson, Micha-
el Albaugh; and brother-
in-law, Arthur Bailey.
A celebration of life for
Ardie & Jim, will be held at
Chapman Dam State Park,
Clarendon, Pa.., on Sunday,
Sept. 26, 2021, at 1 p.m.,
at Pavillion 4.
