John A. Nelson

He was born March 15, 1928, in Spring Creek, Pa., a son of the late Henry and Twila Miles Nelson.

John was raised in Spring Creek, where he operated a small farm. He served in the U.S. Air Force. John worked at Corry Jamestown and then Valeo (Blackstone) which he retired from in March of 1990.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings: Elwood Nelson, Betty Ross, Anna Conklin, Dorothy May, Mary Gifford and Donna Brown; great-grandson,

Owen Berlin and son-in-law, Rick Blanchfield.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret Porter Nelson, whom he married in Angola, Ind., in 1956; four children: John (Kathleen) Nelson of West Monroe, La., Patrick Nelson of Corry, Pa., Susan Smith (Timothy Peterson) of Spring Creek, Pa., and Julie Blanchfield of Greenville, S.C.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

To honor John’s final wishes no public calling hours will be observed.Memorials may be made to the Erie VA Medical
