Patricia L. Baker

Patricia L. Baker, 86, of Clarendon, Pa., passed away peacefully Tuesday April 27, 2021, surrounded by family.

Patty was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Warren, Pa., to the late Charles and Alice Lias. She was married to her high school sweetheart, and love of her life, Richard (Dick) Baker of Clarendon, Pa., for 55 years.

She graduated from Warren High School in 1952. She was employed at PNC Bank and Warren National Bank before devoting her time to being a loving mother to her five children.

Patty had many hobbies. She was an avid reader, loved to go to the theater, and never missed an episode of Jeopardy!TM. Patty loved to garden and always had beautiful roses. Anyone who knew Patty knows how much she loved to play cards -Blackjack, Bridge, and Cribbage in particular. She enjoyed these hobbies for much of her life, until her vision began to decline in her final years. Above all, Patty and Dick loved to travel. They embarked on an around the world voyage on the Concorde jet in 1999. Some of her favorite trips were Africa, Europe, Alaska, Nova Scotia, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. Patty and Dick were snowbirds, spending the winter months in Myrtle Beach and returning home for the seasons. They were very generous and allowed their family and friends to also enjoy their beachfront home. Most of all, and dearest to Patty, was her children and loving family. Her 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren gave her so much joy and happiness. She never missed a birthday, and always shared her sense of humor by putting a knock-knock joke in their cards each year. She was also known as Aunt Pat to three nephews and two nieces. She was so loved by all of the members of her family.

Patty was a loyal and loving friend to many. She thought fondly of her many friends from Bridge Club, Garden Club and Clarendon Trinity United Methodist Church. She was at one time the treasurer of the Sheffield Medical Board and volunteered at the local food pantry. She loved to gamble and was a member of the high rollers club at the Seneca Allegany Casino – some even knew her as the Gambling Granny!

Patty is survived by many members of her beloved family. Her son, Jeffrey Baker of Warren, Pa., and his children: Simon Baker of Jamestown, N.Y., and Jill (Lonny) Johnson of Pittsburg, Pa. Her late son, Jay’s children: Everett (Theresa) Baker of Oak Hill, W.Va., Ellery (Karen) Baker of Richmond, Va., Emily (Jared) Destro of Midlothian, Va., and Evan (Lindsey) Baker of Charleston, W.Va.
