John L. Bailey Sr.

John L. Bailey Sr., 71, a life long resident of Clarendon, passed away Tuesday afternoon May 18, 2021 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, with his family by his side.

He was born June 24, 1949 in Towanda, Pa., the son of Richard Bailey and Helen Shafferr Bailey.

John was a graduate of Warren High School and went on to serve his coun-try in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed at the form-er Delux Plant. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Clarendon Post 314. John loved tractors of any kind, he especially enjoyed the task of taking them apart and the challenge putting them back together. He thoroughly enjoyed tinkering around and could be refered to by many as a master tinker. He enjoyed carpentry work and built many things in his home. He loved gardening and would raise bountiful harvests each year. John was a avid football fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He would relax by listening to loud music.

Left behind to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Debrah Bailey at home, his dog, Gizmo; his sons: Fred Bailey, Clarendon; John Bailey Jr. (Rufinna), Sheffield, Allen Crouse, Warren, Scott Crouse, North Carolina, Michael Bailey (Jessica), Sheffield; and Andrew Bailey (Nikki), Warren; a daughter: Nikki Bailey (Larry), Sheffield; his brothers: Richard (Dick) Bailey, Irvin (Bud) Bailey, Thomas Baile and Ray Bailey; his sisters: Carol Dibble, Margie Fowler, Diane Elvidge, Joyce Walter and Susie Carlson; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: James and Robert Bailey; and a sister, Donna Bailey.

John’s family will welcome family and friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 1-3 p.m., at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield. Military Honors will be presented at 3 p.m., at the funeral home by Clarendon-Sheffield Veterans of Foreign Wars and Warren American Legion Honor Guard.
