Ernest E. Simmons
Ernest E. Simmons, 76, of Falconer passed away Monday (March 29, 2021) in UPMC Chautauqua.
A lifelong area resident he was born January 31, 1945 in the town of Ellery, the son of the late Floyd and Florella Bogardus Simmons.
Ernie attended Cassadaga Valley High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966. Prior to retirement he was employed by Valeo for 42 years.
He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernie also enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Frewsburg Car Club.
Surviving is his wife Bertha M. Swanson Simmons whom he married July 14, 1966; three chil-dren: Thomas Simmons of Kennedy, Terry (Tamela) Simmons of Sugar Grove, PA, Lisa (Martin) Carlson of Gerry; his son-in-law Robert Walters of Randolph; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters: Audrey (Butch) Wynn of Buzzard Bay, MA, Shirley Hitchcock of Busti and a brother Alvin (Barbara) Simmons of Falconer.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Walters on November 25, 2019; two grandchildren: Kristine A. Carlson on August 21, 2003 and Darrin Carlson on December 25, 2008; four brothers: Edwin, Albert, Noyes and Robert Simmons.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Mervin Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
