Julana Hanson
Julana Ruth Hanson, 93 of Warren, died Sunday afternoon, March 14, 2021, at St. Vincent Health Care Center-AHN, Erie, after a brief illness. She was born July 9, 1927, in Sheffield. Julana was the daughter of Herman L. and Fern M. Bean Hannold. She was a lifelong Warren area resident. She was a 1945 graduate of Warren High School and attended Mansfield State Teacher College and graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College. Julana also completed her graduate work at Penn State and Northwestern University. She was employed as a School Teacher at the former Allegheny Valley Elementary School. She also worked with her husband at their family business – Hanson Hardware which started in 1926 and closed in 1989. Julana was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed being a part of the Allegheny Valley Retired Teachers luncheons. She always looked forward to the Pennsylvania growing season to get the freshest vegetables. Julana also enjoyed fishing, reading, sail boating and quilting.
She is survived by her children – Clare William “Bill” Hanson II and wife, Susan, of State College, Christopher L. Hanson and wife, Linda, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., six grandchildren – Jennifer Hanson, Kathleen Edin, Kyle Hanson, Adam Hanson, Sally Collier, George Hanson, seven great-grandchildren – Ellinor Edin, Ingrid Edin, Hunter Hanson, Josephine Collier, Abraham Collier, Felicity Collier, Louise Hanson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clare William Hanson, whom she married Aug. 16, 1947, in Warren, who died Dec. 20, 2002, three Brothers – Edward, Carl & Paul Winger. A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family by Rev. William R. Beatty, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be Oakland Cemetery. A Celebration of Julana’s life will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
