Warren Emerson Carr

Warren Emerson Carr, 93, of Glen Allen, V.A. and formerly of Warren, P.A. and Lakeland, F.L. departed for his heavenly home on Feb. 9, 2021. Those surviving him include his wife of 65 years, Nancy, and his daughters Susan Fishell (Jeff) and Dr. Jenifer Carr (Jim DeBell), granddaughters Jessica, Paige, Bekah, Aimee and grandson Nathan (Megan).

He was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and John Carr, his siblings Maxine Carr, John Carr Jr., Eileen Jewell, Phyllis Hendrickson and Doris Littlefield. During his junior year in high school, Warren enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Princeton CV-37 during the last months of WWII.

After the War, Warren earned his GED and continued to college, graduating from Geneva College. He earned his Masters of Education from Penn State and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Boston University. He was a dedicated educator for 38 years, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor, and football coach at Youngsville and Warren High Schools.

He was a proud member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. A lifelong Methodist, he was an active member of both Grace U.M.C. in Warren, P.A. and First U.M.C. Lakeland, F.L.

After retiring, Warren volunteered many years at the Lakeland Hospital and Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine. A man of deep faith, Warren loved God, his wife, family, friends, and sports. To honor his memory, please send donations to Grace UMC, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E, Warren P.A. 16365.
