Frances Falber Olowin Brown
Frances Falber Olowin Brown, age 102 of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Ball Pavilion Brevillier Village.
She was born in Clarendon, PA on March 2, 1918, the youngest daughter of the late Anthony and Stella Falber.
Frances attended Warren High School and Erie Business School. She worked at Lord Manufacturing in Erie and Sylvania in Warren for many years. Later, along with her husband, Ray, she owned and operated Koli’s Lounge in Jamestown, NY.
Prior to moving to Erie in 2016 to be closer to family, Frances lived in Warren, PA, where she was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Nana (as she was known to her family) loved getting dressed up. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many of her own clothes. She loved animals, hosting backyard picnics, and going to the casino, but most importantly, Nana loved her family. She lived life to the fullest, and everyone who met her, loved her.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Olowin in 1986; her second husband, Albert Brown in 2011; four sisters, Mary, Josephine, Stella, and Veronica; a brother, Benny; and an infant son, John Olowin. She is survived by her son, Ken Olowin (Jane) of Erie; her daughter, Renee Samuelson of Sheffield; six grandchildren, Kim Van Slyke (Derek), Mark Olowin (Christina), Kari Althof (Tim), and Josh Samuelson (Christy) all of Erie, Aubree Samuelson (Jerry) of Sarasota, Florida, and Jarod Samuelson (Kari) of Beaverton, Oregon; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff at Ball Pavilion for the wonderful care they provided our beloved “Downtown Frannie Brown.”
There will be no visitation at this time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James R.C. Church in Erie at a later date. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Warren, PA.
