Amy Davis Riberdy

Amy Davis Riberdy, age 44, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away at home Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 2, 1976, to Nancy Bloom Davis and Mark Ian Davis who survive, both of Warren, Pa. Amy was a 1994 graduate of Warren Area High School and obtained her Bachelors degree in Elementary and Special Education from Lock Haven University in 1999.

After teaching in the Warren County School District for two years she then moved to the Virginia Beach, Va., area where she met and married Bill Riberdy Jr. on July 17, 2004. Amy was a dedicated, loving mother to Karissa Irene Riberdy and Audrey Collette Riberdy who survive her.

She is also survived by her younger brothers: Sean Mark Davis (Erin Flynn-Davis) and nephew, Killian, whom she loved dearly of Irwin, Pa., and Christopher Scott Davis of Pittsburgh, her sister, Elissa Davis Godissart (Matt) of Bedford, Pa., her stepmother, Karen Krivonak Davis of Warren, her in-laws Diane and Bill Riberdy Sr. and brother-in-law, Chris Riberdy of Chesapeake, Va.

Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Irene and Bernard Bloom, her paternal grandparents Mildred and Dr. Arthur Davis and her Uncle Jerry Davis. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Amy excelled in cooking, cross-stitch and scrap-booking for her daughters. She was a dedicated, talent-ed teacher and was loved by co-workers and students.

Amy loved her job as a teacher and after teaching for 20 years for the Chesapeake School District at Butts Road Intermediate School she retired due to health reasons. Amy was a true fashionista and loved to shop for and with her girls She was an avid reader and puzzle solver. She showed a monumental, courageous spirit as she overcame several bouts of cancer over the last 8 1/2 years. Her family was blessed that in the last six months Amy was able to celebrate birthdays, her sister’s wedding and the Christmas gathering with her three siblings.

The funeral will be in Chesapeake, Virginia on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. A celebration of Amy’s life will take place at a later date in Warren.
