Perry L. Ruland Jr.

Perry L. Ruland Jr., 75, of 19 Walker St., Houtzdale, Pa., passed away at home unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020.

Born on Nov. 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Perry L. Ruland Sr. and June Pierson Ruland.

He graduated from Warren Area High School and went on to attend Hiram G. Andrews Vocational School in Johnstown, Pa. Perry served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War era. He was employed as a truckdriver for Inter Electric for many years and also was a mechanic. He was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion. He loved woodworking, crochet, and animals (especially cats).

He is survived by his companion, Shirley Johnson of Houtzdale; one daughter, Jane (Jeff) Rosenthal of Erie; two granddaughters: Amber and Ashley Rosenthal of Erie; one sister, Judy Peacock of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two brothers: David Ruland of Sugar Grove and Bob Ru-land of Russell; several nieces and nephews, including his nephew, David Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirleyanne Ruland.

Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 1-3 p,m, at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Inc., 117 Main St., Sugar Grove, PA 16350. where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. CDC guidelines will be enforced, six feet social distancing and face masks are required.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Russell, Pa.
