Leonnette “Lee” Lauffenburger Winkels

Leonnette “Lee” Lauffenburger Winkels, 80, of Clarendon, formerly of Youngsville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at Hickory Creek Health Care in Warren.

Lee was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Warren, to the late Albert and Nora (Osborne) Lauffenburger.

She worked as a nurses aide at Warren General Hospital for over 23 years, retiring in 1999. She also worked privately as a home care nurse around the Warren area for a number of years. She was a member of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church. Lee enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, spending time out doors, bird watch-ing and working in her flower beds.

She is survived by her sons: Dwayne Winkels of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Roger Winkels of Clarendon; her grandchildren: Eric (Ali) Winkels, Shawna (Rodney) Thomas, Troy (Savannah) Winkels, Kyle (Jennifer) Winkels and Chelci (Mike) Montgomery; great-grandsons: Blake, Bo Elliot and Kasen Winkels; and one great- granddaughter, Addisyn Winkels; her sister, Ardele Conroy of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight “Red” Winkels, whom she married on Nov. 26, 1959, in Warren, and who died on March 9, 2008; a son, Ryan Winkels; a daughter, Loura Winkels; a brother, Hugh Lauffenbuger; a half-sister, Nancy Payne; and a half- brother, William Lauffenbuger.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Youngsville. Covid restrictions will be enforced and masks will be required. Visitation will also observed from 10-11a.m. prior to a funeral service that will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Warren County Memorial Park.
