Elsie Shaffer

Elsie Shaffer of Lander, Pa. died Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Rouse Home. She was born August 10, 1931 in Cherry Grove, PA on the Mountain Laurel Farm where her dad was born, raised, and died while living on the farm. She was the daughter of the late Andrew D. and Elma E. Wilbur Gregerson.

She was raised in Cherry Grove and attended school there thru the 8th grade in a one room schoolhouse. She graduated from Warren Area High School in 1949. She retired from Blair Corp in 1991.

She was a member of the Sheffield Senior Center, Warren Senior Center, Warren American Legion Auxiliary, Jamestown, N.Y., Audubon Society and attended Warren Senior Community Center.

She loved to travel. She loved covered bridges and had a large collection of them. She had a collection of over 350 different Avon bottles. She volunteered helping care for the Cherry Grove Cemetery. She and her husband always had a big garden and gave any extra to the less fortunate. She was always helping others.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Cecil L. Weller, an infant daughter Thresa,; seven brothers; Infant Peter, M. John, Roy, Cecil, Louis, Russell and Lawrence Gregerson. five sisters; Edna Atwood, Anna Bateman, Ethel Kreider, Josephine Baker, and Bertha Gregerson.

She is survived by her husband Norman A. Shaffer, a son Jack A. Weller, Lakewood Colorado; two granddaughters; Errin Weller of Louisville, Colorado and Hayley Weller of Lakewood, Colorado, one step-son, Jay Shaffer of Jamestown, New York,; two step-daughters; Robin Shaffer (Allen) Chan of Harrisburg, PA, and Teresa (Gerald) Day of Lakewood, New York; two step granddaughters; Melissa Anthony (David) of Lakewood, New York, and Susan (Matt) Wright of Northeast, PA. and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral home on Wednesday, November 18, from 11 until 1 pm, at which time a funeral service will be held, with Rev. Jeff York, chaplain of the Rouse Home, officiating.
