Thomas R. Ristau

Thomas R. Ristau, 62, formerly of Warren, Pa., died recently at his home in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Tom was born July 23, 1958, in Warren, Pa. He was the son of Gordon and Geraldine Ristau.

He was a 1976 graduate of Eisenhower High School, and a 1982 graduate of the Penn State University Turfgrass Management Program. He was involved with the golf course industry most of his life, starting with Jackson Valley and Conewango Country Club in Warren, and several nationally prominent courses, including working at the US Open at Merion. He migrated into the golf course construction business, eventually becoming a vice president of Pennink Arrimour Golf Course Construction Division, and was also a partner in a golf course in the Richmond, Va. area.

Tom married his wife, Sharon on Nov. 29, 1997. Upon retirement, Tom and his wife moved to Cuenca, Ecuador, where they both passed away peacefully together.

Tom is survived by his mother, Geraldine Ristau of Youngsville, Pa.; two brothers: Ronald (Carol) Ristau of Phoenix, Ariz., David (Yvonne) Ristau of Spring Hill, Fla.

In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Ristau of Warren, Pa.

Friends may call at the Hessel Valley Church, 166 Hessel Valley Road, Sugar Grove, PA. 16312., on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 from 1-4 p.m., followed by a short funeral service with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Hessel Valley Cemetery with a private family service at a later date.
