Linda S. Phillips Ferry

Linda S. Phillips Ferry, 70, of Russell, Pa., passed away following a lengthy illness on Friday, Au. 28, 2020, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House.

Linda was born March 23, 1950, in Punxsutawney, Pa., the daughter of the late Melvin Kuster and Kathleen Reed Dunmire of Punxsutawney, who survives.

Linda attended high school through 11th grade in Punxsutawney, and then graduated from Eisenhower High School 1968. She attended Jamestown Business College and Jamestown Community College. Linda was an insurance agent for 40 years, starting with Pudential, then State Farm, and as an independent broker.

She was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church, and a member of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary. Linda enjoyed her work and worked very hard. She enjoyed sewing and reading. She loved her family, her canine companion-Freddie, and especially her grandchildren

Linda is survived by her husband, Peter Ferry, whom she married on July 7, 2018; her mother and stepfather Kathleen and Bill Dunmire of Punxsutawney; two daughters: Shelly Hoak of Nashville, Tenn., and Brandi Phillips of Buffalo, N.Y.; one son, Todd Phillips and wife. Wendy Russell, Pa.; five grandchildren, Tyler Phillips, Brandon Littlefield, Erica Littlefield, Jasmine Taylor and Drew Taylor; a sisters: Kathy Bubash and husband, Bill of Columbus, Pa., Tracy Sopher and husband, Jeff of N. Warren, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Linda was preceded in death on March 3, 2011 by her first husband, Allen Phillips; and a brother, Melvin Roy Custer in 2014.

Friends and family will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 10032 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, on Monday, Aug 31, from 3-6 p.m. A funeral service will be held there at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 1, with the Rev. Dave Heckman, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, Pa.
