Rosalind Smith

Rosalind June Zampogna Smith, 87, of Youngsville, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Rouse Warren County Home after a brief illness.

Rose was born June 12, 1932 in Spring Creek, Pa., and was a 1950 graduate of Youngsville High School. Rose was married to Charles T. Smith from July 6, 1951 until his death in 2012. Rose held various positions at local grocery stores over the years and after retirement, she operated the Chandlers Valley Country Store.

Growing up in the Great Depression led Rose to find the value in everything. She loved having garage sales, volunteering at the Restore, gardening and entertaining.

Rose was an active member at the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church, where she volunteered in the kitchen, nursery and also with bible school. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her as she was always there in faith and to lend a helping hand.

Rose is survived by her children, Linda (George) Alspaugh, Sherry Hagberg, Larry Smith, Karen (Rich) Gorton; grandchildren; Renee’ (Tracy) Staples, Eric (Lisa) Hagberg, Jody (Ray) Hagberg, LeeAnn Henry, Amy (Jon) Taber, Kelly (Scott) Kuschel, Pete (Heather) Alspaugh, Jo( Timothy) Theisen, Carly (Dan) Davies, and Travis Smith; 17 greatgrandchildren; 3 greatgreat grandchildren; Sister, Lucy (Robert) Olson; 2 brothers, Richard Zampogna and Joe( Virginia) Zampogna; 2 sistersinlaw, Ruth( Roger) Reynolds, and LaVonne Smith; 1 Brotherinlaw, Jim Seybert, nephew and niece Sterge and Jayne Blake who were also her longtime neighbors, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in December 2012; mother, Gertrude Snyder; Stepfather, Grover Snyder; Soninlaw Robert Hagberg; Sister, Amy(Russell)Burgess; brotherinlaw, Joe Smith; Sistersinlaw, Sandra Zampogna, Bernice Smith, Gennette Smith. Carol Seybert and Ora Orinko.

Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the family will announce a celebration of life at a later date. However, a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donation be made to the Mission Covenant Church Kitchen Remodel Fund 7205 Matthews Run Rd. Sugar Grove, PA 16350 or to Hospice of Warren Co. 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA 16365.
