Mable Horner

Mable E. Horner, 87, of Youngsville, Pa, died on January 29, 2020 at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning, Pa after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born September, 26, 1932 in Union City, Pa, a daughter to the late Edward and Mary (Cuthbertson) Morse. Mable married her loving husband, Charles W. Horner on September 2, 1950 in Warren, Pa, celebrating 50 years together. Mable attended Warren Area High School and remained active with her 1950 classmates attending reunion luncheons prior to her illness. She worked for Warren General Hospital as a Ward Clerk and continued on as a medical secretary at Warren Orthopedics and then for the Youngsville Medical Center where she retired. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, the Episcopal Alter Guild, the Youngsville American Legion Auxiliary and the Sit and Knit Club. Mable was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Mable is survived by her children, Tom Horner of Sanford, Pa, Linda (Ray) Neidrick of Youngsville, and Pam Horner of Natrona Heights, Pa; a sister, Kathleen Barton of Youngsville, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Horner of Youngsville; her grandchildren, Michele (Jason) Peters, Heather (Randy) Tomaschefski, William (Sheila) Horner, Nicole Neidrick, Natalie (Chad) Juhlin, Andrew (Sophie) Horner, Ashley (Brad) Horner and Olivia (Nash) Horner, 14 great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as great ma, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mable was preceded in death by her husband, “Bill” on August 27, 2001, a son, Jeffrey Horner, a granddaughter, Jessica Blum, 3 sisters, Sally Courtney, Mary Akif and Kae Conroy, 2 half-sisters, Louise and Lillian and two great-grandsons, Wyatt and Jackson Peters.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 2, from 25pm at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street, Youngsville, Pa 16371 and also for an hour prior to the funeral service that will be on Monday, February 3 at 11am at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis Street, Youngsville, Pa 16371, with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Warren County Memorial Park.
