LeRoy N. Stoddard

LeRoy N. Stoddard, age 89, of Sugar Grove passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence in Warren. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara J. (Sherrard) Stoddard.

Born in Brookston, PA, on March 4, 1930, he was the son of the late James and Rachel (Decker) Stoddard.

LeRoy was a steadfast worker throughout his life. He served in the US Army from 19521954. After serving in the Army, LeRoy and his wife, Barbara, owned and operated a dairy farm in Sugar Grove for many years. While operating the dairy farm he spent countless hours providing for his family. At the age of 87, LeRoy retired from PineTon Farm in Russell, PA, where he worked for 27 years.

In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, whom he married on June 22, 1957 in Sugar Grove; he leaves behind three children, Gary Stoddard and wife, Cindy of Sherman, NY; Lora Pitcairn and husband, Michael of Edinboro, PA and Steve Stoddard and wife, Tammy of Corry, PA. He is survived by two sisters; Shirley (Richard) Bartges, Warren, PA and Elaine Larson, Warren, PA; and a brother Vernon Stoddard and Mary, Clarendon, PA. He is survived by eight grandchildren; Julie Nickerson, Benjamin Stoddard, Brandon Stoddard, Breanna Crane, Ryan Pitcairn, Alyssa Royek, Ashley Bell and Ryan Bell. He also leaves behind seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded in death by two brothers; Lawrence and Allen Stoddard; and four sisters, Betty, Bernice, Eunice and Janet.

Friends and family may call on Monday, February 10, 2020, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services located at 314 North Main St. in Youngsville, PA. A funeral service will be held there on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Warren VanDewark, pastor of the Watts Flatts United Methodist Church, officiating. A private burial will be held at Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
