Betty Shamp

Betty L. Shamp, 86, of Greeley St., Bear Lake, Pa., died on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at Corry Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 12, 1933, in Corry, Pa. a daughter of the late Gerald and Georgia Sanford Crowell.

Betty was raised in West Spring Creek. Following her graduation from Corry High School, she worked at a local bakery in Corry. After she married her main priority became raising and caring for her children. Betty then went to work for a few years at Corry Rubber Corporation. She then worked at Corry Jamestown Corporation for several years and retired at the time the plant closed. After her retirement she helped take care of the family farm, she loved to keep herself busy with different hobbies.

Betty was a member of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church and Women of the Moose Corry Lodge, Chapter 717. She was also a member of local bowling leagues. Betty loved to garden, square dance and hunt. She also liked crocheting and embroidering.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on December 27, 2005, by her husband Robert H. Shamp whom she married on October 19, 1951, in West Spring Creek, Pa.; also by a daughter Cindy Bell and a sister, Mary Confer.

Betty is survived by a daughter, Donna Bell and her husband Richard of Romeville, Ill and a son, Lester Shamp and his wife Manette of Bear Lake, Pa.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Barbara (John) Jones, Robin Shamp, Robert Bell and Erin (Jason) Jones, five greatgrandchildren, Xander, Coltin, Richard, Lorelei and Aiden and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa. on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 1 p.m. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.

Burial will be in West Spring Creek Cemetery, West Spring Creek, Pa.
