Roxie Johnson

Roxie A. Johnson, 80, was a lifelong resident of Saybrook, Pa. Sheffield Twp. On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie with her loving family by her side, “Grammie,” the pillar of the Johnson family, took Jesus’s hand, she left this life with the quiet strength, grace and dignity in which she lived.

She was born August 8, 1939, in Dime Pa. to Howard V. Kipp and Rose Irene (Clever). Roxie attended Sheffield High School.

She married Curvin C. (Charlie) Johnson Sr. on May 7th, 1957. Together, they celebrated 62 years. Roxie was also known to the neighborhood as “Aunt Roxie” or “Grammie” by her family.

Roxie enjoyed pottery and ceramics, she liked gardening and being outside.

She could often be found quietly watching the hummingbirds.

She was a great Elvis fan. Above everything else Roxie’s family was most important to her.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Leaving behind to cherish Roxie’s memory are her husband Charlie at home. Two sons: Curvin C. Johnson Jr. and his wife Theresa of Sheffield, and Rodney A Johnson of Sheffield. Three daughters: Cindy L. Anderson and her husband Craig of Tiona, Renee A. Dilley and her husband Bill of Warren, and Carrie L. Hornburg and her husband Dan of Cherry Grove.

Her grandchildren: Conni J. Johnson, Benjamin C. Hornburg, Alex M. Hornburg, Jessi M. Johnson, Kelsi N. Anderson, Andrew Hulse, Brendan T. Winslow, Dylan P. McNeal, Landon G. McNeal and Kolton C. Johnson.

Also her great-grandchildren: Duane C. Wagner, Issac J. Spicer, Jada L. Weiser, Avri E. Hornburg, Evelyn M. Hulse, Nadia L. Hulse, and Brinley A. Hornburg.

In addition, she is survived by a brother: Howard V. Kipp Jr. of Hot Springs Virginia. Three sisters: Diana M. Evan of Frewsburg, NY, Wanda J. McClellan of Weldbank, and Lana J. Cunningham of Russell.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Betty M. Baily, June L. Lindsey, and Sandra M. Danielson.

Roxie’s family will welcome family and friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.

Services will follow at 4 pm at the Funeral Home with Pastor James Crossley officiating. Private burial will take place at the Barnes Cemetary.
