Howard Goodwill

Howard L. “Woody” Goodwill, 87, of East St., Columbus, Pa., died Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, Pa.

He was born June 27, 1932, in Spring Creek, Pa., a son of the late Carl and Alice VanGuilder Goodwill.

Woody was raised and educated in Corry and attended Corry Area High School. He worked several jobs before being drafted into the US Army in 1952. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Woody returned to the Columbus area and worked various jobs in the Corry area including Columbus Township, Raymond Manufacturing, Rambler Automotive Dealership, Crotty Chevrolet and Ajax Iron Works. His last employer was Associated Spring Barnes Group as a press operator and retired from there in 1995. He also worked parttime for many years for Toplovich Gravel.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Posts in Corry. Woody enjoyed riding motorcycles, skidding logs with horses and had a great love of animals.

In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded on November 14, 2009, by his wife, Roberta McCray Goodwill, whom he married June 27, 1952; and two sisters, Winifred Johnson, and Hazel Drake.

Woody is survived by two sons, David Goodwill and Steve Goodwill and his wife Leitha, all of Columbus, Pa.; a brother, Harold Goodwill and his wife Barbara of Union City, Pa.; three grandchildren Ashley, Danielle and Gabe Goodwill; two stepgranddaughters, Laura Walton and Megan Curran; and four step greatgrandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 11 am. Rev. Brian Eiss will officiate.

Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa.
