Doris Andress

Doris Marie Andress, 94, of Youngsville, passed away peacefully Friday, September 27, 2019, at her residence.

She was born April 22, 1925, in Wrightsville to the late Malcolm McKinley and Martha (Allen) Irvine Nelson. Doris had worked at the Rouse Warren Co. Home for 22 years as a nurse’s aid. She was a member of the Berea Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family, bowling and rooting on her favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, especially Andrew McCutchen. For her 90th birthday, her family held a surprise party in her honor at PNC Park in Pittsburgh during a Pirates game. The whole stadium sang her happy birthday. She told everyone,” it was the best day she had ever had. “

Doris is survived by her children; Nancy Andress Haslet Spencer of Warren, Richard (Kathi) Andress of Barton, N.Y., James (Donna) Andress of Black Creek, WI and Robert (Robin) Andress of North Hampton, PA, her grandchildren; Michael (Wendy) Haslet, Jeffery (Diane) Haslet, Gregory Andress, Christopher (Amy) Andress, Rachel (Aaron) Perkins, and Randi(Ben) Fish, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way .

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David H. Andress, who passed away in 1967 and a granddaughter, Amy Andress Crooks.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the Berea Lutheran Church in Pittsfield from 10 – 11am, at which time a memorial service will be held there with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke, past pastor and current pastor at the Inter-Faith Chapel at the State Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park.
