Ruth Franklin

Ruth K. Franklin, 94, formerly of Southland Ave., Lakewood, N.Y., and a resident of Corry, Pa., passed away Monday, September 2, 2019, at Cambridge Corry.

She was born October 11, 1924 in Warren, Pa., a daughter of the late Simon and Emma Gertsch Fischer. Her husband, Robert D. Franklin, preceded her in death on October 28, 2008; they had celebrated 62 years of marriage. She was also preceded by a daughter, Janice Greiner Snow in 2014; and a brother, Ralph K. Fischer in 2004.

Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Warren High School. She worked at New Process Company, Penn Furnace and Iron Company and the 7UP Bottling Company in Pittsburgh.

She attended Lakewood United Methodist Church, assisting with many church functions. Ruth was an avid bowler, a former member of Chautauqua County Home Bureau, a member of North Harmony Senior citizens and LakewoodBusti Golden Agers. She and her late husband were honored in 2007 as Volunteers of the Year by RSVP.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jeanne and Tim Stockton of Spartansburg, Pa.; and a son, Dennis and Mary Franklin of Jamestown, N.Y. She is also survived by many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Lakewood United Methodist Church, 164 Shadyside Avenue, Lakewood, N.Y., from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, Rev. Michael Childs will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, NY.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa.
