Robert Uhr

Robert Uhr, 92, passed away on August 14, 2019, following a brief illness. He was born in Warren on September 17, 1926, to the late Erik Gustaf Uhr and Gunhild Matilda Eckstrom Uhr. For the past four years, he has resided at the Suites at Rouse. He enjoyed living at the Suites and especially enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo and socializing with the residents.

He graduated from Warren High School and attended Jamestown Community College. During WWII delivered telegrams for Western Union.

Robert worked at New Process/Blair Corporation for 47 years. He started working at New Process the day after he graduated from high school. He loved to travel and often went to New York City to enjoy the latest Broadway plays and to explore the city. He often traveled in Canada as well.

He was particularly proud of his Swedish heritage and traveled abroad with his mother to visit friends and family in Sweden. When he returned to Sweden in the 1990’s he was made an honorary Viking. He tried often to teach Swedish to his nieces.

He volunteered in the office at First Lutheran Church and loved spending time with his good friend Dee Schultz. He also enjoyed Senior Fellowship and planting flowers around the building in the spring.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Elizabeth Johnson, and brother in law, Howard E. Johnson, niece Kathy A. Johnson and nephew Keith A. Johnson.

He is survived by niece Kristine (Craig) Whitaker, Kerry (Bill) Thompson, great-niece Emily (Andy) Whitaker and great-nephew Zachary Litzinger, nephew David Litzinger, great-niece Kieran Thompson, great-nieces Mya and Bre Helsley and many cousins in Sweden.

Friends will be received at 10 AM, at the First Lutheran Church, 109 West Third Avenue

Warren, PA 16365, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM, The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing.
